Meet the Doctors
Dr. Karen M. Michalski
graduated from Michigan State University in 1987. A native of the area, she chose to open Serenity Animal Hospital in order to provide the best veterinary care available. She is constantly learning and attending continuing education courses all over the world. She is very active in her church and in numerous animal rescue associations.
Dr. Julie Sherman
graduated from The Ohio State University in 1996. She is an accomplished veterinary surgeon and diagnostician. Her dedication to animals is evident by the conscientious care of her patients.
Dr. Michelle Meyer
is a Sterling Heights native and Oakland University alumni, graduated from Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. While she loves all animals, large and small, she has a special interest in feline medicine. She and her husband reside with their Siamese, Nikki, her feathered friends Petey and Marley, and the entire cast of Finding Nemo in their 150 gallon saltwater reef tank.
Dr. Jennifer Catalina
is native to the area and an alumnus of Michigan State University. She graduated from The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical School in 2007. She adores all species big and small. She practices medicine mainly with small animals (cats and dogs) but also has an interest in exotic animal medicine. Dr. Catalina is very close to her family and feels it is very important to make time for our loved ones, as she does with her husband, 2 stepchildren, 4 cats, and 2 dogs.
Dr. Mark Hackel
was born in Dayton, Ohio and received both his B.S. in Zoology and DVM from Ohio State University. While in Veterinary School, he developed an interest in surgery and oncology as a result of his involvement with many interesting cases in both areas. He also has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and ultrasound.
